5 Things To Do When You Have a Breakout

When your skin starts to breakout, it can send you into a full-blown panic.  Since your face isn’t like a shirt or pair of shoes that you can change as you please, you have to wear your face in whatever condition it’s in.

An acne breakout can take your confidence levels down to a zero.  When you aren’t feeling great about your face, you are less likely to want to get close to people or have intimate conversations.  Even though it may seem like nothing to the rest of the world, it’s a massive deal for you.

A lot of people may be inclined to start piling on products or applying harmful chemicals to stop the breakout in its tracks, however, they’re doing it all wrong.  When you have a breakout, make sure that you do the following.

Stop Wearing Makeup

The first thing you’ll want to do is to stop putting makeup on.  Even though every fiber of your being may be screaming to pile on as much cover-up as possible to try to hide the problem, you’re only sending your skin further down the breakout rabbit hole.

Take a break for at least 24 hours to give your skin the break that it needs. It will have time to breathe and start regenerating its own natural oils.  If you’re feeling extra insecure without makeup over your blemishes, then merely limit your social life during this period.  Your skin will be much happier taking a break.

Don’t Touch Your Face

One of the biggest culprits of breakouts is people’s hands.  When you touch your face, you’re transferring everything that you’ve touched throughout the day onto your face.  Your face is delicate and easily affected by oils and dirt which are picked up by your hands.

If touching your face is a habit, stop doing it immediately.  Try to imagine thousands of germs jumping off of your hands and onto your face each time that you touch it.  You may be less inclined to give in to your urge to touch your face.

Change Face Wash

One of the first things that you should ask yourself when you suffer a breakout is whether you’re using the right face wash for your skin type.  Using a cheap face wash which has low-quality ingredients is asking for trouble.

Rather than using products which come straight off the shelf of a drugstore, you may want to consider opting for a more premium product.   Some people’s skin is more susceptible to acne than others, so you may require something more pharmaceutical.

Do a Mask

Consider doing a mask which will help rejuvenate your skin and bring it back to life.  You can buy masks online or at the store, or even make one yourself using all natural ingredients.
