The new year is a time to start fresh and set a new clean slate for yourself. Traditionally it’s a time of people making a commitment to creating or achieving something. These are referred to as, “New Years Resolutions.”
While there really are no rules to what you can or can’t choose as your resolution, there are some that are particularly popular and that’s because they are some of the most important and pressing items for a lot of people.
Take a look at some of the best and most popular resolutions that you can choose from.
Pay off Debt
What could be more exciting than paying off your debt? Living with no extra bills on top of the ones you already owe. The interest will no longer pile higher and higher and you can finally watch your credit score grow instead of shrink. At the very least look into lowering payments by paying off or refinancing your student loans.
Making the resolution of paying off your debt is easier said than done, however. Without a plan, there is no real action behind your words. Make sure to start a payment plan with yourself of exactly how you plan to pay off your debts within the next year.
Will you get a part time job? Will you cut back extra expenses and pleasures? Write down a plan and stick to it and you’ll be on your way to making your resolution a reality in no time.
Start a Fitness Regimen
As the holidays came and went, so did the common extra belly bulge from parties, feasts, and having time off of work to lounge and digest on the couch with your loved ones and family.
Many people allow themselves to indulge during the holidays because they know that when New Year’s comes along they’re going to stick to their resolution of starting a serious diet and fitness routine.
This can be anything from joining the gym to starting a DVD workout from the privacy of your own home. Whatever works best for you to make you motivated to lose the amount of weight that you want to lose.
Organize Your House
It feels like it must be years since you first said you were going to organize that hallway closet. Every time you open it you forget that it’s a disaster and either the vacuum tumbles onto you or a box that’s been haphazardly placed teetering on top of another box.
Why not make your resolution to clean out that closet once and for all! Resolutions are all about out with the old and in with the new.
By clearing out your physical space you can invite room for a clearer mind and a less chaotic environment. The reality is that it takes longer to procrastinate than it would to simply buckle down and do it.
