This is probably my favourite quote of all time and it will always be relevant. (Full quote):
“The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting thevery thing it seeks todestroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violenceyou may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violenceyou may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate.In fact, violence merely increases hate. So it goes. … Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can dothat.Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” - Martin Luther King Jr.
Today marks one year since the first day of the UK riots. The violence and looting that spread through our streets during the days that followed was met by some of the most negative public reaction and disproportionate harsh sentencing that I have ever witnessed. As Dr. King has also said “A riot is the voice of the unheard” but many people failed to see the situation from both sides and continued to hate and blame the frustrated generation. No matter how big the conflict or which side you agree with, his words ring true and will inspire for years to come. “Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” Rest in power Dr. King.

Very powerful words from a great man who himself experienced great struggles. He had a very healthy philosophy and approach to how we should all strive to live and accept each other.
